ENTRANCE TO CRIKVENICA

Landscape design project

t the entrance to the City of Crikvenica it was necessary to arrange two deserted green island covered with wild vegetation. Given the fact that these areas represent one of the main entrances to the city of Crikvenica, an important tourist destination on the Adriatic coast, a complete landscaping solution that will give the impression of groomed, attractive and maintained developed space was required.

At the entrance to the city two concrete beds were planned with the surfaces made of fine white gravel with planted vegetation hiding the cold concrete elements – signboard of the City of Crikvenica, and at the same time emphasizing the entrance to the City with its rich and intensive flowering in symmetrical layout on both sides of the road.

The landscape design project sought to achieve and to emphasize the Mediterranean atmosphere of the spatial element providing a long lasting positive perception for all visitors. In order to achieve that, the space was formed by using the species that bloom during the tourist season, and illustrate the Mediterranean atmosphere with vivid colors and attract attention of passers-by and led them to enter the city. The space dynamic was achieved with the exchange of vertical pyramidal cypress and lagerstroemia, and flowerbeds made of perennials and low shrubs. Flower beds with seasonal flowers are designed in intensive pink color for all used seedlings. Surfaces are vivid , especially along the highway, symbolizing the sea waves, while their constant rhythm provides an avenue of trees (Lagerstroemia indica) that are planted alternately by two in order to achieve the effect of stronger flourishing canopy lines within the tree rows.
