MEDICATIVE GARDEN, FACULTY OF HEALTH STUDIES, RIJEKA
CONCEPTUAL LADNSCAPE DESIGN PLAN
The basic idea of guiding the design of this area is to create a cozy corner for a stay by shaping the fragrant and medicative garden and making a connection between healing, comfort, functionality and sustainability. Therefore, essential and medicinal plants and natural materials of gravel and wood are selected for the design of space. Pebbles in this case represent the rugged terrain of our Mediterranean landscaping where these plants grow wildly while wood-based pallets contribute to ecological sustainability in terms of degradation of this type of material and its ability to recycle.
The space is shaped in the style of an ethereal – healing scented garden with asymmetrical small gardens surrounded by pebble on which wooden palettes are placed in function of outdoor living for students. In addition to seating and gathering in this area, students will enjoy the air full of freshly-flavored essential oils that plants that grow in our Mediterranean landscapes on karst soil spread around.
